Recipe book "Deceptively Delicious," buzz for "jessica seinfeld cookbook" surged 1,148%

Seinfeld-book-deceptively-delicious

The wife of comedian Jessica Seinfeld appeared on Winfrey's Oprah to promote her recipe cook book "Deceptively Delicious," Simple Secrets to Get Your Kids Eating Good Food, online message boards erupted with questions about the originality of the book's premise. Buzz for "Jessica Seinfeld cookbook" surged 1,148%. Recently, searches for the celebrity wife and her tome heated up once more, but not for such an appetizing reason.

Since the Oprah episode aired, Mrs. Seinfeld's collection of healthy recipes has whipped up controversy on message boards and blogs and print media. Apparently, there's a notable similarity between some of the recipes in Seinfeld's collection and those in another cookbook, "The Sneaky Chef" by Missy Chase Lapine.or example, add avocado to chocolate pudding or put chickpeas in chocolate-chip cookies. It suggests adding vegetable and fruit purees to food.

Sneaky-Chef- Missy-Chase-Lapine

Both books recommend ways to slip vegetables and fruit into dishes for children who only want chicken fingers and macaroni and cheese. Both books include cooking instructions for meals like "grilled cheese with secret sweet potatoes." And Lapine's book was once submitted to the same publisher who is now happily raking in the dough for Seinfeld's volume,so similar with each others.

Responding to the brouhaha, Seinfeld issued a statement: "My book came from years of trying to get my own children to eat healthy foods — my own trial and error in my own kitchen. The idea of pureeing vegetables has been around for decades. I have never seen or read this other book. I do hope it is successful and brings even more attention to child nutrition."

Seinfeld's agent says, Jennifer Rudolph Walsh: "We can never get enough of building up our celebrities and then tearing them down. But in this case they've chosen the wrong person, because Jessica Seinfeld is above reproach."

Seinfeld and Lapine can't be the first moms to dream up the stealth health maneuver. But besides buzz for "Jessica Seinfeld Oprah," Yahoo! News has logged an uptick in queries on "Jessica Seinfeld plagiarism." That can't be too mouth-watering for an author, even if she is a mega-millionaire's wife.

Take a look please

INGREDIENTS:

1½ boxes (16-oz. each) orecchiette (Orecchiette is a type of pasta native to Apulia)
2 Tbsp. slivered garlic
5 cups small broccoli florets
1/2 cup dry white wine
2/4 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
Salt (as required) and freshly ground black pepper to taste
3 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
6 Tbsp. unsalted butter, cut in chunks and softened
1/2 cups toasted pine nuts
1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Preparation Direction:

In a stockpot, cook the orecchiette in salted boiling water until tender but firm. Drain, run under cold water, and drain well again.

Have ready 2 medium sauté pans. Heat 1/4 cup of oil in each until smoking. Add the cooked orecchiette carefully to the hot oil, dividing it equally. Spread the pasta out in even layers and cook for about 3 minutes, or until medium brown on the underside. Turn the pasta over and cook, without stirring, until browned on the other side. Transfer the pasta and oil to a large bowl and keep warm a few minutes.

Heat the remaining oil in one pan until hot. Add the garlic and broccoli, and sauté, tossing, for 5 minutes. Add the wine, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Taste, adjust the seasonings if necessary, and cook for 3 minutes. Transfer to a large flameproof baking dish.

Add the browned orecchiette, balsamic vinegar, butter and pine nuts to the baking dish and toss over medium-high heat until the butter is melted. Add ½ cup of the cheese and toss to combine.

Serve the pasta in 6 heated bowls or plates, with a generous grinding of fresh black pepper on top and the remaining cheese on the side.
